"Elmer" by David McKee is a wonderful story about the importance and beauty of diversity. It's one of my students' favorite back to school books.
This adorable writing-prompt, whale "craftivity" serves double duty, as you can use it for back to school or the end of the year.
This Woodchuck Word Work packet, provides perfect worksheets for Groundhog Day, including some tongue twisting fun, perfect for Daily 5 or your language arts block.
Whether you do this activity at the beginning of the school year for a back to school icebreaker, or in fall, for October or November, this owl craftivity, is a wonderful way to get to know your students, or for students to get to know their classmates better. Completed projects make an adorable bulletin board. A caption could be: "Owl Stars!"
You can cover all sorts of Common Core State Standards with this cute Dalmatian Fire Safety Puppy Packet. The packet includes patterns to make 4 Dalmatian matching games: (upper & lowercase letters, numbers, shapes and colors). Students put a fireman's hat on the Dalmatian, then find the matching bone to put in his mouth. i.e. The hats have uppercase letters on them, the bones have the matching lowercase letters.
This packet will be FREE for an entire year! Woo hoo. After which time it will be up-dated and put in my whopping 90-page Common Core Dotty the Dalmatian Fire Dog Packet.
Do you have a cat-theme going? Do your kiddos enjoy Pete the Cat stories? If so, I think you'll like this alpha cat packet. The packet includes separate upper and lowercase letters that are purr-fect for Memory Match and "I Have; Who Has?" games. There's also a set of cards with both the upper and lowercase letter on them. Cut them up to make puzzles, or run off a set for each student. They color, trim, collate and add a cover to make an Itty Bitty booklet.
Here's a cat craftivity that's a great review of all sorts of standards, and is purr-fect for your Pete the Cat theme. There are 4 different cats to choose from. You can run them off on blue construction paper (for a Pete the Cat one) and have students trim, or run them off on white construction paper and have students color their cat.
