Valentine Writing Prompts

14 pages.

For a creative writing prompt for Valentine's Day, have students choose a friend to make some "paper love" for.  Children complete the prompt: Why do I like you?  Let me count the ways... When they are finished, they color the picture.

To jumpstart your students' minds, write one about your best friend or a relative to share as an example.  To build self-esteem and promote friendship, have students choose a classmate to make one for.  I've also included the original poem by Elizabeth Barrett Browning, How Do I Love Thee?  Let Me Count The Ways.

For more practice, assign 2-3 more classmates for students to write a valentine bookmark for. There are 7 black & white bookmarks for them to choose from, plus a sheet of mini ones, if they'd like to make more. This activity fits in nicely if you do the "Fill a Bucket" program.   valentine bookmarks, valentine writing prompts

I've also included a set of full color ones for you to write to each of your students.  There's one for boys and one for girls.
