I do a one-day mini-monkey unit the first week of school and feature the book Chicka Boom. We work on the first letter of their names.

This is a photo of my Monkey hall way display.
"Chicka chicka boom boom! Welcome to our classroom! Can you find your monkey?"
I also put their "Captain Capital" magnet letter on their locker as a surprise. It rests on the top of a palm leaf.

The palm tree is 3-D and hangs from the ceiling with a plush monkey hanging from the branches that makes monkey noises when you press his palm.
