This is a quick artsy project you can do with your students each month that makes a wonderful keepsake.

Children learn the different monthly words by TRACING them with a highlighter, and pressing their thumb in a colored stamp pad to make a themed picture for that month. Practice cutting skills by separating the 4 smaller pages or leave as one large booklet. Make a cover out of the Smilie man for a large book. Use him as a love note and have your students sign it and make a construction paper cover for a smaller booklet.  Children can then read the book as a whole group and review the months as well as concepts of print!
