1-2-3 Come Practice Math With Me
I'm really excited about the M & M (Math & Me) booklet. It's a super-fun way to practice all sorts of math and measurement skills, and is versatile enough to fit a variety of ages. (PK-4th)
I’ve organized the pages in the PDF, so that the first 11 pages are the easiest. As the booklet progresses, it gets a bit more difficult.
Simply choose the pages that are appropriate for your kiddos.
You can do several pages a day in class, or send home as homework.
PK kiddos can complete a simplified booklet, with one-on-one help from their family.
Sharing parts of the booklet, like the family page, is an interesting way for students to get to know their classmates.
Finished projects make a wonderful keepsake too.
Completing the booklet, involves using:
a ruler, measuring tape, scale, calendar, clock, addition, subtraction, counting, ordinal numbers, coins, tally marks, a 10 frame, fractions, greater & less than, geography, odd & even, comparison/contrast, data collection & analysis, writing, number sense, logic and imagination.

The featured FREEBIE today is another "Me" activity. This is entitled "Owl About Me" and is a super-easy, quick, & fun "getting to know you" activity.
That's it for today. Thanks for stopping by. It's rainy and the wind is making it even more chilly.
The perfect kind of day to snuggle up by the fire with a good book. Wishing you a warm and cozy, lazy kind of day.

In The Good Ole Summer Time
When I think of summer I think of sunglasses.
I found this cute clip art and I thought what could I do with this?
As Dr. Seuss would say, A few “thinks” later, and I had several new things for you to do with your students!
My Sunglasses is an easy reader where students trace and write the color and number words, circle the number in the sequence and then color the sunglasses.
Number 10 has a twist. I’ve also included a graphing extension.

Do a few of your little ones still not have a handle on those 3-D shapes, or have you just begun to introduce them for next year’s kindergartners?
Then Seeing 3-D Shapes Through My Sunglasses is perfect for you.

Next, there are a variety of ways you can use 20-Summer-Sun Compound Word Sunglasses.
You can run off and laminate the puzzle cards and have students put them together as a center.
I’ve included directions for a variety of games that you can play with them such as Memory Match Concentration or “I Have; Who Has?”
They are great as worksheets. So that you can program the glasses with other lessons, to reinforce more report card standards and practice other skills, such as skip counting, subtraction or addition equations, shapes etc. I’ve included a blank set of sunglasses.
Have students cut the sunglass pages apart, put them in alphabetical order, trace the words, collate the pages and make a booklet.

Finally, ABC Sunglasses are traceable upper and lowercase letter pages that can be made into a booklet or used as separate worksheets.
Again, there’s a blank set of sunglasses so that you can program your own skillsheets. i.e., Write only the uppercase letters in and have students fill in the lowercase letters, or write in the lowercase letters, and have students fill in the uppercase ones.
I’ve also made the sunglass letters into puzzles. Color the sunglasses, laminate them and cut the pieces apart on the puzzle lines.
Besides a puzzle center activity, I’ve also included a list of game ideas you can use the pieces for as well.

Thanks for visiting. Be sure and pop back tomorrow for another teaching tip.
Feel free to PIN anything you think might be interesting to others.
Do you have an end-of the year activity you do with your students? I’d enjoy hearing from you: diane@teachwithme.com or leave a comment here, especially if you use one of my ideas. Thanks in advance for taking the time. I hope these activity sunglasses are fun for your students, and your remaining days with them are made in the shade!

I'm Going To Have A Whate Of A Good Time...
This is along the same lines as the "Bucket List" and "Having A Ball" writing prompts above.
If you want to do this writing prompt too, have them write about the places they will go.
You can make one huge whale and give each student a blue wave to fill out, and then put the waves around your whale, or you can give each child their own whale and the writing prompt paper for them to complete and then arrange these on a bulletin board that's covered with blue paper.
To make the whales more personal, cut your students' school picture out as an oval, children glue the photo to a white oval, and then glue the white oval to a blue circle. (Have these pre-cut) Students use this as the whale's eye and glue it to their black whale.
Wiggle eyes also look cute. Students can add a red heart sticker for a cheek or use a crayon to color one in. Students also cut out a blue wave and glue it to the back of their whale.
Write child's name with a silver sharpie on the largest part of the wave.
I like to add a spray of water coming out of the spout. To add even more pizzazz, add silver glitter glue.
You can also add a bit of white glitter to the tops of the blue waves as well.
Students glue their whales to the top of their paper and trace the writing prompt with a blue marker and complete the thought with a list of things they are going to have a whale of a good time doing for the summer or if you're doing more than one prompt, they can list the places they plan to go, or would like to go, for that whale of a great time!
